A fantastic cruise in Vietnam’s celebrated UNESCO World Natural Heritage site of Halong Bay including an overnight stay onboard a comfortable, traditional-style wooden junk. You’ll visit the incredible limestone, karst scenery of the spectacular and famous Bay as well as the equally dramatic, but far less visited, Bai Tu Long Bay, lying just to the north of Halong in Bai Tu Long National Park.

Our 2-day programme, (see details below) starting and finishing in Hanoi, will show you the most famous isles, grottoes and vistas of Halong Bay along with some of the lesser-known sites for an unforgettable boat journey through some of Southeast Asia’s most awe-inspiring scenery aboard a luxury wooden craft.

This Halong Bay extension is already included on our Hanoi to Saigon and World Heritage Sites of Vietnam tours but is also suitable for any of our other Vietnam tours which either finish or begin in Vietnam’s capital city such as Vietnam, Mountains and Hilltribes or Unexplored; the Far North.

Note also that Hanoi’s International Airport is easily reached from most other regional destinations such as Bangkok, Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vientiane or Phnom Penh.

With the area’s complex topography weather is correspondingly unpredictable but broadly speaking, the rainy season is May to September while cool months are December and January. We emphasise the word unpredictable and in the case of intemperate weather, cruises may be cancelled at the last minute. (Unlikely but it has happened.) In that case, either full refunds, a change of date or an alternative tour such as World Heritage Trang An – ‘Halong in the Rice Fields’ – are available.

All cabins are Deluxe Ocean View with air-con and en-suite facilities and while our Halong Bay extension price is based on two people (sharing), a Deluxe Ocean View single room is available at £315.
