A superb 1-week Vietnam photography tour; The Mekong Delta

This unique Vietnam photography tour; ‘The Mekong Delta – Images of Vietnam’ takes in bustling Saigon and the picturesque Mekong Delta. Accompanied by one of our professional travel photographers, the tour aims to encourage both keen amateur photographers and beginners, not only to get to know their cameras better but to engage with their subject matter in more meaningful ways. In contrast to other photography courses, and in keeping with the All Points East philosophy, this trip intends to emphasize a travel photography that respects local people, their cultures, traditions and religions and encourages a positive impact on the places and people it visits.

An exciting river and land adventure through the heart of Indochina: from Vietnam’s exciting Saigon through the landscapes  of the Mekong Delta, up-river to the fascinating Cambodian capital Phnom Penh.



Here's an idea of what you can expect to do and see day-to-day.

Day 1 - Saigon - arrival and introductory walking tour

Morning arrival in Saigon, and check in to a downtown hotel. Introductory presentation with one of our professional photographers concerning some of the techniques, aesthetics and ethics of travel photography. Explore the area, browse the markets or just relax in a cafe and watch the non-stop spectacle of the city’s traffic!

Day 2 - Saigon - city tour

Day tour of some of the City’s sites including the bustling Chinatown district of Cholon, the War Museum, the Jade Emperor Pagoda and Saigon’s own Notre Dame Cathedral.

Day 3 - Cai Be - south to the Mekong Delta

Departure from Saigon, visiting to the fascinating former Vietcong tunnel system at Cu Chi before continuing south to the scenic riverside Delta town of Cai Be for an afternoon boat cruise through the maze of waterways. Discover the region’s picturesque scenery, and the local cottage industries and handicraft manufacturing of the, still very traditional, villages. Overnight in Cai Be Town.

Day 4 - Can Tho - traditional Delta scenes

Morning visit to Cai Be’s traditional floating market followed by a canoe tour of the former Vietcong jungle base at Xe Quit. After lunch we’ll head for Can Tho – the Delta’s most important commercial and administrative centre.  Afternoon at leisure to explore this friendly riverside town or check-out the interesting Mekong Delta Museum.

Day 5 - Can Tho to Chau Doc - floating market and sacred mountain

Early morning boat ride to check out the nearby morning market; one of the busiest and most photogenic of the Delta’s floating markets, before heading west to the small riverside town of Chau Doc near the Cambodian border.  Visit the sacred Sam Mountain for sunset and spectacular views before returning to Chau Doc in the evening.

Day 6 - The Mekong - up river to Phnom Penh

Back on the Mekong for a morning departure by boat for Phnom Penh. Lunchtime arrival and check-in to a small, comfortable, downtown hotel. Time to stretch your legs with an introductory walking tour, taking in the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and lively waterfront area.

Day 7 - Phnom Penh - city tour and street life

Day tour of some of the sites of Cambodia’s fascinating capital city; the bustling Central Market, the infamous ‘Killing Fields’ site and the highly moving Khmer Rouge Genocide Museum at Tuol Sleng.

Day 8 - Phnom Penh - morning at leisure and end of tour

Morning at leisure in Phnom Penh and lunchtime departure.

Visa requirements: Vietnam – A visa is no longer required for single-entry visits of up to 15 days for citizens of some countries including France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the UK. For longer visits or citizens of other countries, A visa MUST be obtained in advance. They are available from your nearest Vietnamese embassy at a cost of about £40 (c. $60). Further information, as well as e-visas on arrival are available on the internet, for example or

Cambodia – A 30 day visa is issued on arrival at the Cambodian border on day 7. (Approx. $35 plus passport photo). E-visa not accepted at this entry point.
