Extend your Borneo tour with a four day, 3 night stay at the Tabin Wildlife Resort. Our suggested accommodation is a comfortable but low-key, eco-style resort situated on the edge of the Tabin Wildlife Reserve, one of Malaysian Borneo’s largest protected areas, located in the remote, far northeast of Sabah.

Tabin Wildlife Reserve’s 1,225 square kilometres consists of a mixture of coastal mangroves, lowland dipterocarp and evergreen forests and, amongst numerous mammals species, is home to the Borneo pygmy elephant, proboscis monkeys, orangutans, langurs and clouded leopards and is one of the last refuges of the highly endangered Borneo rhinoceros. Some 300 different bird species have been identified in Tabin, including various hornbills, broadbills and pittas as well as numerous endemic species.

Our suggested extension, or mini-tour, begins with a transfer from Kinabatangan to nearby Lahad Datu from where a 45 minute drive along forest trails takes you to the resort. After an orientation tour and briefing from house guides our 3 day nature programme begins with a hike to a ‘mud volcano’, an unusual feature also popular with local wildlife. Days 2 and 3 include a variety of activities such as guided hikes, a night walk, truck safari and waterfall visits while day 4 allows a morning at leisure before a transfer to Lahad Datu Airport for a return flight to Kota Kinabalu. (Precise itinerary depends upon the season and can be tailored to meet individual fitness levels.)

The tour includes full board at Tabin Wildlife Resort as well as return transfers to the airport and a return flight to Kota Kinabalu. (Depending upon your departure time from the latter, an additional night in Kota Kinabalu can be included in required.)
