Extension to the unspoilt tropical Koh Rong in the South China Sea

If you’ve seen the sites of Phnom Penh, explored the temples of Angkor and taken a tuk-tuk tour of Battambang’s cottage industries then why not extend your Cambodia tour with a few days relaxing on unspoilt Koh Rong Island. The island comes with white sand beaches and a still largely forested interior and lies in the southern reaches of the Gulf of Thailand, a short distance offshore from Kampong Som, or Sihanoukville, in turn reached by an approximately 3 hour drive from Phnom Penh.

Our choice is the secluded Long Set Beach, situated on the southern part of the island and the eponymously named Long Set Resort. The resort is well-appointed with a beachside location, swimming pool, an excellent in-house restaurant and bar and spa yet offers a cosy, low-key feel with friendly, welcoming service.

In addition to sampling the cocktails on the beach or poolside, kayaks and scooters are available for exploring the island’s interior and bays while snorkelling and scuba diving options are also on offer.

This island extension is available for any tour finishing in Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh so is suitable for Vietnam and Cambodia and Laos and Cambodia tours as well as our Cambodia Overland and Beyond Angkor tours. For shorter tours ending in Siem Reap, an additional flight to Phnom Penh would be required.

Please note our indicated price for the Koh Rong extension is for ‘deluxe garden view’ rooms during the high season period of 1st November to 19th December or 1st March to 30th April. ‘Deluxe pool view rooms’ are available on request while reductions are offered for the May to October period. Peak season rates are applied from 20th December to 28th February.

Finally, the indicated price is for two persons sharing and approximate rate for a single traveller is approximately 675 UKP, depending upon room type and period.
