Images of Angkor is a 4 day special photography tour accompanied by one of our professional travel photographers. The tour is designed for any level of ability so for beginners there’s plenty of hands on assistance, tips and advice while for the more experienced our  photographers ‘ in depth knowledge of the area means we are able do our best to get you to the right spot at the right time as well as providing a comprehensive and original  tour of the sites while avoiding as much as possible the crowds and the heat.

As well as the fantastic jungle temples and ruined cities themselves with their massive creepers, roots and mysterious moss covered carvings you’ll have plenty of opportunities to discover the the serene landscapes and  everyday, traditional life or the local people too as well as Siem Reap street-life and markets.

Day 1 - Siem Reap - arrival and introductory dusk visit

Afternoon check into our riverside hotel and introductory talk by our photography expert before an atmospheric dusk visit to the tranquil ruins of Banteay Kdei Temple.

Note flights to Siem Reap from, for instance, Saigon or Bangkok are available or an overland transfer by taxi from Phnom Penh.

Day 2 - Siem Reap - Angkor Wat and Angkor Tom

Angkor – an unforgettable tour of this fabulous site – its vast jungle clad temples and mysterious stone carvings. Begin with dawn at Angkor Wat followed by a comprehensive morning tour of the temple itself. Then late morning return to Siem Reap to escape the midday heat and for some lunch, siesta or relaxation time before an afternoon walking tour of Angkor Tom:with, last but not least, (we’ll wait until the crowds have gone!), the dramatic Bayon Temple and its famous ‘faces’.

Day 3 - Siem Reap - the jungle temples

We’ll begin with a forest hike up Bahkeng Hill to visit the spectacular Phnom Bahkeng Temple and check out the views before moving on to the huge jungle-clad ruin of Preah Khan. Dense jungle, enormous roots and trees and screeching parakeets make this atmospheric temple one of everyone’s favourites. After a midday break in Siem Reap Town the afternoon programme continues with a short jungle walk to Ta Keo via the remote and rarely visited Ta Nei Temple. A visit to the photographic Ta Prom ruins – the famous ‘Tomb Raider’ Temple continues our jungle theme and concludes our day’s visit.

Day 4 - Siem Reap - morning at Beng Melea and departure

Morning trip to one of the remoter, less visited but most photogenic temple sites, the truly spectacular Beng Melea. A huge, partially ruined temple complex, overgrown by jungle, lying to the west of Siem Reap this is one of the most impressive Angkor monuments. Return to Siem Reap for an afternoon departure.

Photographic themes: – rural markets and villages, landscapes, historical sites, rarely photographed temples.

Note flights from Siem Reap to onward destinations such as Bangkok or Phnom Penh are available
