Ayuthaya

Explore the ancient riverside temples of UNESCO World Heritage Site and former Siamese capital Ayuthaya

Day tour of UNESCO-listed Ayuthaya

A fascinating one day tour of the ancient Siamese capital, and today UNESCO-listed World Heritage site, of Ayuthaya.

On route to or from many destinations in Southeast Asia, then chances are you’ll probably find yourself passing through the Thai capital (or at least Bangkok Airport) at some stage so why not squeeze the most out of your airfare, break up the journey and tag on an extra night or two? A leisurely day tour to the nearby historic capital of Ayuthaya also allows you to recover from your outbound flight, before your tour starts, or chill out for a while after your tour, before the return journey.

The former capital was founded in the mid-14th century and existed as one of Southeast Asia’s most important trading and political centres until being sacked by an invading Burmese army in the 18th-century whereupon the capital was moved further south to close by its current location. Today picturesque old temples line leafy riverbanks and we’ll take you by boat and on foot around some of the extensive site’s main features.

The morning pick-up point is any centrally located Bangkok hotel and we’ll drop you back there in the late afternoon or early evening while, alternatively, an end of day transfer to the airport is also available for a small supplement. (Exact timing will depend upon traffic but you’ll need to count a full day. Extra accommodation in Bangkok, prior to or after this Ayuthaya tour, is also available on request.)

Our price is per person, for a private tour, based on two people sharing, For a single traveller the cost for a private tour is £245, while reductions for families and larger groups are also available.

Our Ayuthaya extension is suitable for any tour starting, finishing, or even passing through, Thailand’s capital and transport hub Bangkok.
