Trekking in Northern Thailand

Some photographs by Brian K Smith

A great selection of photographs of trekking in Northern Thailand by Brian Smith from Canadian operator

The trek covers the border area between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provinces, beginning in the small, picturesque town of Tha Ton from where we depart by boat down the Kok River. First stop is Ruam Mit – a riverside Karen village where we transfer to elephant for the next stage of our hike.

The elephants are a big help since the climb up the mountain to the Red Lahu village of Yafu can get pretty steep! Well worth the climb though – see below!

Yafu provides our overnight stay, as guests of the friendly villagers and day 2 sees us heading east through more glorious mountain scenery.
