Lizard catching it’s lunch in Chantaburi Province’s Khao Soi Dao Wildlife Sanctuary. Looks like a Horned Tree Lizard, (Acanthosaura Armata), though my Reptiles of Thailand book says it should only be found in the Peninsula? No idea what the spider is, other than large black and hairy!
Soi Dao Mountain, at nearly 5,000 feet, is the centrepiece of this great, but rarely visited, Wildlife Sanctuary. Plenty of locals pic-nic at the Soi Dao Waterfall but foreigners have yet to discover it. (The park doesn’t even rate a mention in Lonely Planet!)
Anyway, as part of our responsible travel policy, (see here for details), of spreading the tourist dollar around by including off-the-beaten-track destinations, we organize a half day hike in the scenic park on our Ruined Cities and Tropical Islands tour. Click here for further information. Cheers!
