Actually 2 pix today – before and after shots of the Don Khone Nua School on Don Khone in the 4,000 Islands region of South Laos’ Champassak Province.
The school was largely rebuilt with donations from All Points East customers. As you can see the original wooden building was falling to pieces and lacked any toilet/washroom facilities at all. The breeze blocks might not look very attractive but at least the building will last, the rain won’t come through the roof and kids have bathrooms and toilets to use! (The school was completed around 2007).
Many thanks to all your kind donations, to our tour-leader at the time, Peter Cochrane who helped organize the Don Khone Nua School project and to Khun Lusak, owner of Sala Phae Resort in Don Khone Nua Village who facilitated on the ground. The kids and teachers were seriously happy so well done to all involved! Visits to the school can be included in our Emerald Triangle tour or Mekong Adventure, both of which include stays on Don Khone Island. Cheers!
