Day 1 Departure from London.
Day 2 Arrival in Bangkok; - meet your tour leader and transfer to a downtown hotel in the City’s lively Banglamphu district. Time to relax, explore the area or check out some local markets.
Day 3 City tour with a difference taking in both the famous sites and some parts tourists don’t usually get to see! Bangkok by riverboat, sky-train, tuk-tuk and canal boat with visits along the way to include the Grand Palace, fabulous Wat Phra Keow, (‘Temple of the Emerald Buddha’), the fascinating Jim Thompson House Museum and various stops in-between.
Day 4 Leaving the Capital we’ll journey by local train to Kanchanaburi Province, across the historic Bridge on the River Kwai and along the infamous, but highly scenic, ‘Death Railway’. Afternoon visit to Sai Yok Noi Waterfall and short jungle hike through the lush surrounding jungle before checking into our accommodation on the banks of the Kwai itself.
Day 5 Departure for nearby ‘Hellfire Pass’; visit the fascinating museum and hike along the former route of the ‘Death railway’ itself. (So named because of the numbers of local workers and Allied POWs who died during its construction by the Japanese army.) Afternoon expedition down the jungle-lined River Kwai with a choice of kayaks or 2 person canoes for the uninitiated and overnight in Kanchanaburi Town.
Day 6 Complete our Western Thailand loop with a return to Kanchanaburi Town by way of the impressive 12th century Khmer ruins of Muang Singh – a former, fortified, frontier town of the Angkor Empire. Time to visit some of the sites of Kanchanaburi Town on foot or bicycle, such as the ‘Bridge on the River Kwai’ and war museum before catching a night sleeper train to the South.
Day 7 On to Khao Sok in Surat Thani Province - acknowledged as one of Thailand’s most spectacular National Parks - with its dramatic limestone, karst scenery, lakes, waterfalls and lush jungle. Our two day exploration of the park includes canoeing or tubing, a boat trip on the lake, elephant riding and jungle hiking, with time to relax, splash around in the streams and waterfalls or just kick back in your chalet and admire the fabulous tropical flora and fauna. Day 7 will be a jungle nature trail.
Day 8 A boat trip to discover the incredible scenery of Chiew Lan Lake.
Day 9 A scenic morning drive east to Nakorn Si Thammarat Town with an afternoon tour to discover this friendly southern town’s bustling markets and temples and check out some of the local handicrafts.
Day 10 Excursion to Khao Luang National Park, site of the dramatic Kharom Waterfall – one of the highest and most spectacular in Thailand. Bathing, nature hike and scrambling up the falls!
Day 11 On to Thale Noi Bird Sanctuary in Phattalung Province – one of the region’s most important water-bird sites – where we’ll travel by boat through the atmospheric marshes and lily-covered lakes. Afternoon visit to the Wat Tham Sumano cave temple complex and an evening arrival in Trang Town on the Andaman Coast.
Day 12 One day trip into the surrounding countryside taking in the Thung Khai botanical gardens with its new canopy walkway and a jungle expedition to Ban-Traat Mountain where we’ll trek through the rainforest, bathe in mountain streams and visit a Sakai settlement – a former hunter-gatherer, jungle dwelling people.
Day 13 Head for the coast to Ban Chao Mai National Park where we’ll canoe through mangrove swamps and along underground streams to visit the spectacular and mysterious sacred sea caves. Return to Trang for flight to Bangkok or take up our optional island extension with an afternoon transfer to Koh Libong Island for accommodation at a secluded beach resort.

"The trip was outstanding and thoroughly appreciated by all of us....All Points East seems to have designed their itinerary very cleverly. The pacing was just right all the way through. We saw and did a lot without feeling rushed...and seemed to see everything at the right time, maximising the relative cool of early mornings and late afternoons and yet avoiding many of the crowds and queues"
"For those who want an adventurous holiday, but don’t want to plan it or be part of a big anonymous group, Gecko Travel, (now All Points East), sets a standard that is hard to beat."
