Day 1 Departure from UK for Kuala Lumpur.
Day 2 Morning arrival in KL and transfer to our hotel in the heart of the Capital’s bustling Chinatown. Afternoon to relax, get over your jet-lag or explore the area’s lively markets before an evening trip on the sky-train to see the iconic Petronas Towers by night.
Day 3 Walking tour of some of the very varied sites of the fascinating Malaysian capital - Little India, the fabulous Victorian era architecture of Merdeka Square and the Central Mosque.
Day 4 Scenic morning drive to the old British hill station and tea growing region of the Cameron Highlands – an area famed for its spectacular jungle-clad mountain scenery and mild temperatures. Afternoon to discover the lush tropical vegetation as well as a visit to one of the famous tea plantations.
Day 5 Drive up the West Coast to Penang where we’ll stay in the heart of UNESCO World Heritage George Town, the Island’s capital - a bewildering mix of Malay, Indian and Chinese cultures, Buddhist, Christian, Muslim and Hindu religions with Thai and Indonesian influences thrown in for good measure! Afternoon walking tour of this well preserved, historical town in collaboration with the Penang Heritage Trust - temples, Chinese clan houses and British colonial period architecture.
Day 6 Visit Penang Hill with it's Victorian era cable car, graceful villas and spectacular views, and hike down the forested slopes to the famous Botanical Gardens. Evening visit to one of the town’s famous street markets.
Day 7 Head off into the rarely visited interior through the jungle-clad hills to tranquil Banding Island in Temenggor Lake. Accommodation at a beautifully situated lakeside eco-resort.
Day 8 Expedition into the surrounding Belum Forest, hike through pristine rainforest to mountain streams and waterfalls. An exciting night hike through the forest, and camping overnight in the jungle. With luck we’ll see monkeys and maybe even elephants - spectacular scenery guaranteed!
Day 9 Second day of our exploration of Belum continues with a boat trip on Lake Temenggor, visiting a village of the Indigenous, forest-dwelling Orang Asli Tribe, and an afternoon return to the eco-lodge for some relaxation time in this stunning setting.
Day 10 Transfer to Kuala Besut port on the Peninsula’s East Coast, and on by speedboat to the jungle-clad and coral-fringed paradise of the Perhentian Islands. Tourism is still relatively undeveloped in these islands and we’ll be staying in a comfortable beach-side resort.
Day 11 A snorkelling tour of some of the vibrant coral reefs that surround the island. Fantastic turquoise waters, myriad colourful fish and encounters with baby reef sharks and giant turtles!
Day 12 Day exploring the island - hike into the well preserved jungle interior to search for the prehistoric looking giant monitor lizards that roam the islands – plus monkeys, colourful bird-life and visits to some of the more remote bays and creeks.
Day 13 Transfer to nearby Kota Bharu for a return flight to the UK, via Kuala Lumpur.

"Overall, the tour was a great success and the work that All Points put into the schedule was much appreciated. There was plenty of variety with no chance of becoming bored.
Jeremy, our leader in Malaysia was cheerful and enthusiastic from the start and kept the group moving and on schedule. He was well informed about the itinerary and regularly made helpful comments of points of interest along the way. If he didn’t know the answers to our questions, he always got back to us before the day was out. Very good company.
I would highly recommend our particular tour to anyone travelling Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia – first class all the way. We will strongly recommend All Points East to any of our friends planning an Asia tour. Great job and thanks again for a wonderful trip."

"...a personal thank you for our wonderful holiday in Malaya. We could not have asked for a better host as an introduction to your beautiful country with its fascinating culture. We started our holiday with a guide and finished it with a friend."
Sue & Jim Melville, 2010
"I had the holiday (adventure) of my life. At all times (our guides) were courteous, very knowledgeable on the flora and fauna and history of Malaysia. It was a pleasure to be in their very capable hands. I have returned home with the smug feeling that your tour has enabled me to be part of Malaysia and it's people - never once did I feel like a tourist. Bog standard package holidays are a definite no-no for me in the future!"
Jennifer Barten, 2008
"Our trip to Malaysia was absolutely fantastic and so varied that it felt like several holidays rolled into one. Gecko Travel, (now All Points East), should be commended on the first class organisation of the tour every step of the way. Our leader and the local guides were extremely knowledgeable and informative. This was adventure holidaying and backpacking in luxury. Thank you Gecko Travel for the holiday of a lifetime and an experience we shall never forget."
Chris Steedon & Jane Flint - August 2008
"We had a TRULY wonderful holiday. The level of food and accommodation suited us perfectly and the itinerary was so varied and interesting. We were amazed that we might get a discount on future holidays - I feared we'd been blacklisted for being too enthusiastic"
