Burma, (Myanmar), tour, ‘…quite unlike any land you know about’ (15 days)

Burma, Myanmar, tour, ‘…quite unlike any land you know about’. So said Rudyard Kipling and it still rings true today. From the faded, atmospheric, Victorian splendour of Rangoon (Yangon) and its breathtaking Shwedagon Pagoda,  to the historic city of Mandalay; the spectacular ancient temples of Bagan, colonial hill-stations, the justly celebrated Lake Inle and myriad traditional hill-tribes of the picturesque Shan Plateau, Burma is quite unlike anywhere else in Southeast Asia.

On our 2 week Burma tour we’ll explore this amazing country by; local train, stagecoach, horse and cart, Irrawaddy boat, bicycle as well as by bus and on foot, with the emphasis, as usual, on combining both famous sites and lesser known ones to allow you to discover the real local culture; ancient history,  bustling markets, stunning landscapes, authentic cuisine and incredibly friendly people that make up this highly varied and truly fabulous country. Southeast Asia as it used to be – an unforgettable trip!

Please note for this with time on their hands this tour of Burma’s more famous sights can be combined with our 2 week, off the beaten track, South Burma tour which takes in the spectacularly situated towns of Mawlamyine, (Moulmein), and Hpa-an as well as the old colonial ports of Tavoy and Mergui, (now Dawei and Myeik) plus all the superb scenery in between.
